This update is long overdue :)
Our hall bathroom is finally finished. What a nightmare! What we thought would take 8 days, took over three months, but we are very happy with the results.
We had not planned to makeover this bathroom. However, the shower pan went out and leaked water into our downstairs living room. We had an insurance adjuster come out, and we realized we were going to have to tear most of it out anyway. So, after many months of leaving it like it was (this happened in December), with a hole in our ceiling and bathroom floor, we finally took the plunge and the bathroom renovation began. Here's the damage on the ceiling above the bathroom. A nice hole in the ceiling and some rotted wood in between floors.
We hired a contractor because the job was over our heads. The contractor was terrible, but we all made it out alive. Tearing something down to the studs and rebuilding it, moving plumbing and electrical, is definitely not something we wanted to do, so we had to hire someone. He took SO long and didn't communicate. He would show up like twice a week with workers.
The bathroom is in the upstairs hallway and will serve Preston and (hopefully) another child one day, and also guests. Here are the before pictures of the bathroom.

This is a pic from when we first looked at the house, with the old owners stuff. |

I always liked this custom curved cabinet, but in the redo it had to go. |
 |
One night, Brian took down the wallpaper in about 15 minutes. |

This bathroom had a walk in shower, but no tub. |
It had a custom built cabinet under the sink which I hated to take out, but had to do it for the greater cause. :) The contractors removed the divider wall that separated the sink and closet from the stall shower and toilet. This allows much more room for multiple people to use the space. We put in a double vanity, a soaking tub, 13" floor tile, subway tile around the shower, Delta faucets throughout, added sconces over the vanity, new toilet, and created a deeper closet space. We added 18" to the room by going into the guest bedroom. I know taking away bedroom space is a big no-no, but it is still a good size room with a walk-in closet. We had guests over, who told us that you would never know that we took away space. That made me happy, because I kind of agonized a little over that.

It was dark, so pictures were hard, but this is when they first started. |
 |
New floor going in! |
 |
Subway tile installed |
And the after! Benjamin Moore Nantucket Gray on the walls. Love the color.
 |
Double sinks with limestone counters. |
 |
Delta plumbing fixtures throughout. |
 |
New toilet |
 |
Nice big closet. It's hard to tell from the pic, but you can fit two regular size hampers on the floor, below the first shelf. |
 |
So nice and open now! |
 |
The cabinets have the slow shutting feature. Love that with Preston. |
Much better! Glad to cross this room off of our list.

Cami, that's gorgeous! We redid a bathroom in our last house because of similar issues and not by choice. Owning a home is always an adventure!
