Fun in the Tub

I've always loved our night time routine. For me, it's important family time for the three of us. When P was very small, it was truly the first routine we started for him. We would give him a bath, brush his hair, read a book (or 3 or 4), play for a bit around his room, and then lights out. Sometimes this time is hectic depending on P's mood and what we've done that day, but most of the time it is pure joy. I love to see Brian read to him and to kiss him good night. There is nothing sweeter than a clean, happy baby before bedtime.

I haven't been great about taking pictures of him in the tub. Most of the time, he is such a wild man, it requires both of us to monitor. He wants to walk around the tub, splash his feet, etc. Sitting still is SO hard for him. But, on this rare occasion, I was able to photograph this precious time playing in the tub.

One Brave Kid

There is no doubt about it. Preston is one brave kid. In fact, he isn't scared of anything. He is a daredevil by nature. He loves danger. He also loves animals and the Memphis Zoo.

We heard that for a limited time, our zoo was offering giraffe feedings. We knew P would love it! So, we headed to the zoo to feed some giraffes. I have to say, it was one the coolest things we have done at the zoo, and one of the coolest things we have done with Preston. He loved it, and squealed and tried to jump every time he fed the giraffe. He just loved it!

Of course, we walked around for a little bit too. His current favorites are the wolves, the monkeys and the reptiles.

Again, this is very Preston. He loves to lay on his belly and slide down stairs. So we had to do that for like 15 minutes until we pulled him off. :)

After the giraffes got a snack, Preston wanted one.

P fell asleep in the car on the way home. Brian carried him in and laid him down. So sweet. 

After he woke up, he was starving. I decided to take some pictures of him to remember how animated he is when he eats. Yes, he has a toddler tummy and it's because the child LOVES food and eats so much. :) No worries though, because he is still in a healthy weight for his age (between 25-50%). Trust me, I grilled our pediatrician about the size of Preston's tummy at our last check up, hehe.

I think he's ready for the stage! He may look like Brian, but those expressions are of the Chando variety.

After snack time, Preston remembered he has an animal that lives in his house that he needed to pay attention too. They play so well together. :)

These are fun times at our house lately. Really fun. People tell me it only gets better from here. I can't even imagine that! ;)

Spring Break

This past week, P was on spring break. I thought this was hilarious, because he is 1 and we pay a pretty penny for his school. Oh well, at least it gave us an excuse to take a few days off and enjoy the nice weather and time with the little man. I know I am his mom and I am partial, but the child really does get cuter daily. His hair, his eyes, his precious smile, his chunky legs. I could just swallow him whole. My mom was also a big help this week, and kept P a few days for us. Thanks, mom!

Some of the fun things he did on his first spring break were...

 - Picked up a new pair of squeaker sandals for the spring/summer
 - Visited the pediatrician for a fever and runny nose... turns out, P has three (maybe more) teeth coming in right now!

 - Played in the backyard

 - Had brunch with my best friends from high school, including his future girlfriend Avery
 - Visited My Big Backyard at the Botanic Gardens

 - Had ice cream at TCBY (he was a BIG fan of the white chocolate mousse)
 - Played with some of our Brierwood neighbors
 - Went to the Children's Museum for the first time

- Helped clean around the house, ran errands, went shopping, and hung out in our pajamas

 - Ate lots of delicious new foods (and loved them all of course! we have the best eater!)- hummus, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, chicken salad, grapes, and nuts for the first time!

 - Visited the church nursery while we went to church

Digging for fossils

 - Celebrated St. Patrick's day! My mom cooked a traditional Irish feast, so of course, we had to partake. Also that day, we took P to his weekly Little Gym class, thanks to my in-laws! He had a good time and was all over the place.
 - Adjusted to Daylight Savings Time. I thought it would be easy, but it was actually tough. It totally threw him off his schedule. Brian and I thought maybe spring break was purposefully planned that way so the teachers wouldn't have to adjust their internal clocks. :)


This week, since he was out of school, we tried to work on a few things his teachers were working on with him before the break. Preston can now point to his head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth and tummy. We mix them up every time we ask to make sure he actually knows which is which. He is also talking up a storm. This week, I've heard him say "no", "baby", "more", and "bye-bye".  Also, over the break, we were supposed to start working on him taking naps on a mat instead of his crib. Um, yea right. Good luck with that, teachers! I actually have full faith he will do it at school, and not at home. That seems to be a recurring theme. :)

We had such a fun week. Looking forward to many more spring breaks with our little family for years to come
