Black Crowes

We headed down to Tunica last night for the Black Crowes concert at Bluesville inside the Horseshoe Casino. If you have never been to a concert here, you should go. It's a great venue. We met up with some of my college friends Hurt and Schmidt. Schmidt works for Harrah's who owns Horseshoe, so we stayed at Harrah's and rode the shuttle over to the concert. Thankfully, Schmidt got us the hook-up! We had a great time and free drinks at the show. We ate a late night fourth meal, and passed out in our room. We laughed so much. These pictures will probably make no sense, but if you were there, it was hilarious. So fun!

Funny video from Europe

Just had to post this. My mom uploaded a video of Brian and Mr. Coughlin from Switzerland. They were called on stage at a dinner theater performance we went to in Lucerne and was forced to yodel, then chug a beer. It was hilarious!

Bland Gator is back!

After a small hiatus, Blind Gator, my brother Mark's band, is back. Mark plays guitar and is the lead singer. They've played at Hard Rock Cafe, Hi Tone, and will play at Minglewood Hall and other places around the city. Here is a little sampling from last Saturday night.

Cruisin' the Redneck Riviera

This fourth of July weekend was so much fun! On Friday, Brian's best friend Robert invited us to his newly bought and remodeled house and we did a lot of eating and hanging out in the backyard. We are so proud of him for his hard work on this house! It really paid off!

Saturday we got up early and headed to Robyn's parents house in Tunica for a little Tunica Lake action. The Pela's, Dulaney's and the two of us headed out on their boat. We packed some pimento cheese sandwiches, tons of snacks, and plenty of beverages :) We went out on what is called the Redneck Riviera (seriously, the signs say that) and attempted kneeboarding and water skiing. It was so much fun! We had a great dinner that night complete with hot dogs on the grill and pasta salad before we headed back to Memphis. Perfect!

All in all, it was a great day.

One year of wedded bliss

I cannot believe we have been married a year. It feels like this was just yesterday....

But a year has gone by. It has really been a great year and I am thankful to have such a great husband. We celebrated this year with a great Italian dinner at Bari Ristorante. This place was incredible! I think it's my new favorite restaurant. It was fun to eat there right after we got back from Italy, because it was truly authentic. We had a nice bottle of Sicilian wine, too.

We were blessed to get cards from friends and family helping us celebrate. It was really a special day. Notice Mallory's hand drawn cards to us in the back :)

Of course we saved the top of our wedding cake and the top of Brian's groom cake - notice the UGA in the pictures below. We were sooo excited to eat our delicious cake.

(In the UGA picture, you may notice a quote written on our frig. The day of our wedding, some of Brian's friends from UGA came over to our house. Our friend Kyle wrote us a little note that I will never erase. It says "As you embark on your marital journey, remember to make a conscious decision to love one another each and every day. Everything else will be cream cheese." I love Kyle.)

Unfortunately, our cakes tasted like cardboard, so we only got a bite out of each. I am thinking maybe we didn't freeze it right, or we let it thaw too long or something. Despite the gross cakes, it was fun to open them up and I know my parents were happy to have them out of their freezer. Those things took up a lot of space!!

As to my present from Brian, I am having a local artist paint a picture of Brother! It isn't ready yet, but will be sometime in August, so I am excited about that. Even if we won't have Bro forever, we'll have this. Not that Bro is going anywhere anytime soon, it's just sentimental. Brian was really sweet and got me a day at the spa :) My parents got us a St. Francis statue for our garden, and Brian's parents got us a gift certificate to Fresh Market, my favorite place, and a bottle of the special wine we had in Italy! They are sneaky for buying that for us and bringing it back.

All in all, it was a great day of celebrating and remembering our wedding. Can't wait for June 28, 2010!

19 days?!

Has it really been 19 days since my last post? A lot has happened in 19 days. 10 of them were spent traveling the world, which was a lot of fun. I have some pictures on my Facebook account and a slideshow below in case you would like to relive our experience. Another 5 days was spent catching up at work, because of the 10 days I spent in Europe. It was all worth it though! Another day was spent celebrating our dad's, which was a lot of fun.

I could go on for days talking about all the things we saw and experienced in Europe. This was the trip we have always wanted to take together. I kept a journal while I was there, but it's too much to type. I read through it the other night and I felt like I was living it again! I need to remember to do that whenever life gets stressful.

We have a special event coming up this weekend - our one year anniversary! I think Brian will die over what I got him. I am pretty excited about it, too, because it's something we can have forever. We have plans to go to a nice restaurant and drink a bottle of wine we brought back from Tuscany. Can't wait to celebrate.

What a night.

Coldplay was hands down the best concert I have been to. They can put on a show! Our floor seats were amazing. I could go on for hours about how great it was. I had so many favorite parts and songs. I knew Chris Martin was a talented musician, but seeing and listening to him in person was really incredible. It was so worth the trip to Nashville! This was during Green Eyes.....


What a great show! Thanks Hurt for giving us your bed :)
